Blend provided design and consultancy services for the UK Supreme Court (UKSC), which serves as the home for the Law Lords and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Unique in the UK, the UKSC is the only court that allows broadcasting of hearings and judgments. This significant project involved the creation of high-end live broadcast HD/SD TV and OB facilities, including three multi-camera courtrooms, radio facilities, and a non-linear multi-format editing suite for post-production.

Innovative digital workflow for modern judicial broadcasting

Our role included the integration of MPEG encoding systems for live webcasting, alongside comprehensive audio, monitoring, and control systems. The UKSC’s end-to-end workflow is entirely digital, eliminating the need for tape-based media. The solutions we provided ensure seamless broadcasting of court hearings and judgments, with output regularly featured on UK television, making the judicial process more accessible and transparent to the public.
